Truvy Product Frequently Asked Questions
Compiled by Product Support
Q: Can I take X product to help with X condition?
A: Truvy® cannot make medical or product recommendations for your condition. It is against the law for dietary supplement companies to recommend products for any medical condition. However, if you’d like to try X product, we recommend taking it to your doctor, letting them know you’d like to try it, and ask your doctor to monitor your condition for improvements over time. This works well with most physicians, as the physician doesn’t have to know a lot about the product, and it is the responsibility of your physician to monitor your condition. That way they can monitor improvements you may see while taking Truvy products, and you can take the products you’d like to use.
Q: Are there any medication interactions?
A: There have not been any studies done on the interactions of our products with any specific medications. Some of our customers taking our weight loss combos have reported potential interactions with some medications. This hasn’t been consistently reported, so we encourage you to have your doctor monitor your health and medications while taking Truvy products.
Q: I have a medical condition or my blood levels of something changed while taking your products. What should I do?
A: You would have to talk to your physician to try to determine why her ___________ levels may be high. If the physician asks her to stop taking her supplements, then she should stop until the cause can be determined.
Q: What is the dosage of CBD in the vibrant patch? Does it have THC?
A: Our hemp extract is processed through a water extraction method and is specifically made to not contain any THC. Each patch contains about 0.5 mg CBD plus other active ingredients.
Q: How much caffeine is in the Vy Boost™ combo and the new Tru/Vy combo?
A: Each capsule of Vy, Vy Boost and each sachet of Vy Boost drink contains 60 mg of caffeine plus other stimulant ingredients. We are glad to hear you are working with your physician, as our stimulant products should be used under a physicians observation when any medical conditions are present or medications used.
Tru and TruFIX do not contain caffeine. They are designed to help support healthy blood sugar, so may impact any medications related to blood sugar.
Heart and Hydration plus contains 100 mg of caffeine per sachet, but no other stimulants. Regular Heart & Hydration does not contain caffeine.
All other Truvy products, including Dailies, Shake, ReNU and others, do not contain caffeine or other stimulants.
Q: Are the capsules used in the products vegan?
A: Not all of them are, yet. Some of our product’s capsules are made out of bovine gelatin. Our new Truvy and Vy Boost combos are made with a plant-based cellulose (HPMC) capsule that makes the product vegan. We are in the process of switching our other products over to the HPMC capsule which will make the majority of our products vegan.
Q: Why aren’t your products helping me lose weight?
I am sorry to hear you have not had the success you were hoping for as fast as you hoped it would happen.
Truvy products help support your weight loss efforts by helping manage blood sugar in the normal range, helping increase thermogenesis, increasing energy levels and decreasing appetite. However, no weight loss support products, including Truvy, will result in weight loss without significant effort over a long period of time put in by the person trying to lose weight.
This is why we have great programs like the 10k Pledge, the TruTransformation challenge, and the Truvy Fit app. We are working hard to help you increase your activity and change your interactions with food, leading to a healthier lifestyle, in order to give you the best chance of success. I encourage you to learn more about these programs and see if they are a good fit for you. You can absolutely be successful.
Q: Can I take your products while breastfeeding?
A: Because studies during breastfeeding are limited, it would be best to talk to your doctor about whether or not it would be safe to take our or any supplements at the same time. Generally nutrient products like Truvy Dailies and Truvy Shake are fine, but others we cannot recommend due to lack of safety studies. If you need the ingredient lists, check out our back office if you have access, or send an email into productquestions@truvy.com and we can provide you with the information that you need.
Q: Can I take a multivitamin while taking the weight loss combos?
A: Yes. In fact, we recommend Truvy Dailies for men or women. They provide important nutrients and other beneficial ingredients that will support your health.
Q: Are your products gluten free, vegan, non-GMO, plant based, 100% natural, etc.?
A: The majority of our supplements are gluten free with the exception of reNU and Balance. During testing, reNU and Balance have occasionally registered gluten content to be detectable, though it is a very small amount. Usually those products are gluten free. Some of our products are not vegan as they use a bovine gelatin capsule, though most of our products now use a vegan capsule. The majority of our ingredients are plant based and natural. Our Truvy Shake uses whey protein from milk.
Q: What capsule in Truvy Dailies contains wheat? Does it contain gluten?
A: There is a small amount of a wheat starch derived ingredient used in the shell of the two red softgels.
When wheat starch is produced, the protein (including gluten) has been removed. The ingredient tests at less than 20 ppm of gluten (20 ppm is the detection limit of the test, meaning none was detected, but still may contain a trace). Because it is a wheat derived ingredient, we claim on our Dailies box that it contains wheat by law. However, it is unlikely to cause a gluten sensitivity at such a low amount, if gluten is present at all.
Q: I am concerned about the Octodrine HCl in a couple of your products. Could I get more info on that?
A: Octodrine (DMHA) is used as a performance enhancing compound. It has a similar structure to amphetamines and can sometime result in a false positive for amphetamines on drug tests. It is a catecholamine reuptake inhibitor that inhibits the receptors that recycle dopamine, norepinephrine, and epinephrine. This allows the body to be able to use more of these monoamines, which helps to provide energy and increased focus. It also inhibits the monoamine oxidase (MAO) enzyme which degrades the monoamines.
We have received a few reports of false positives on some drug tests for our Vy capsules, Truvy Boost capsules and Truvy Boost drinks. You should avoid taking these products several days before a drug test, or if you receive regular or random drug testing, you may not be able to take them. We are working on removing the ingredients that cause these false positives, and should have updated products later this year.
All other Truvy products, including Tru, ReNU, Truvy Dailies, Truvy Shake, Heart & Hydration, and others, are fine to take all the time.
Q: What is evodiamine and how does it work?
A: Evodiamine has a structure similar to capsaicin and works in a similar way by aiding in fat burning and as a thermogenic.
Q: What is the shelf life and expiration for your products?
A: Our products generally are considered expired two years after their manufacture date. You can find the date on the back of the box or package, usually near the barcode. It is a 5-digit code called a Julian date. Julian dates are read as yyddd. The first two digits are the year that it was made, and the last 3 digits are the day of the year. So, for example, 20203 would mean that the product was made on the 203rd day of the year 2020, or July 22, 2020. It is considered expired two years later, or July 22, 2022 in this example. After two years, if it was stored cool and dry, it is not unsafe and can still be taken, but its potency goes down over time so you may not experience the same benefits.
Q: How much sucralose is in the H&H packets?
A: There is about 50 mg of sucralose in each packet of H&H.
Q: What sweeteners do you use and why?
We use one or more sweeteners in our products, depending on the best combination for the flavor we are working on. Xylitol, sucralose, and stevia are the three sweeteners you may find in our products.
Xylitol is called an alcohol sugar. It doesn’t contain alcohol (meaning ethanol); it’s just a description of its chemical structure. It has fewer calories than regular sugar, but tastes a lot like sugar.
Sucralose is a calorie-free artificial sweetener. It is not digested or absorbed by the body, so it is completely safe, and it tastes a lot like sugar.
Stevia is a plant based natural sweetener that does not provide calories. It is sweet but also bitter, so we often combine it with other sweeteners to get a well-rounded sweetness.
Q: Is there any iodine in any product?
A: Yes, we do have some products that contain iodine: vitaFIX gummies and Truvy Dailies.
Q: Where are your stearic acid and alpha lipoic acid derived from?
A: The stearic acid as well as alpha lipoic acid are derived from plant-based sources. We try our best to provide plant-based sources whenever possible.
Q: There have been some suggestions that Truvy drink mixes should be consumed within 30 min after mixed with water. Is this true?
A: Yes, there have been recommendations for the 30 minutes time frame but that is only because the active ingredient start to separate out, but if you just shake or mix it up again it is just fine. Really, the best amount of time to drink it in would be what the consumer finds works best for them to get the desired results and that can be faster or slower depending on the person. Your time frame is perfectly fine. If you expect it will take more than an hour or two to drink, however, we recommend it be refrigerated.
Q: Are the carbs in H&H net carbs? How does xylitol affect the carb count?
A: Yes, the carbs are net carbs. Xylitol does not contribute to the net carb total due to the way it gets broken down in the body, it is considered a sugar alcohol, but
it is not counted in the carb count.
The main source of carbs in the H&H is from the chicory root inulin. It is the source of fiber in the H&H and fiber is made up of sugar molecules, such as fructose in this ingredient, and gets broken down by gut bacteria, contributing a small amount to the net carbohydrate and calorie content of the product.
Q: Are there any nut or soy-based ingredients?
A: The majority of our products do not have any soy or nut-based ingredients. The one product that includes a nut-based ingredient is reNU. It has black walnuts in it, so those with a tree nut allergy should avoid reNU. If you have questions about specific ingredients, look at our ingredient pages in your back office or email product support at productquestions@truvy.com.
Q: Why is there a warning sticker on my product?
A: We do not include any cancer warnings on our labels. None of our products contain ingredients that would contribute to the development of cancer. All of our products are designed to support health.
If you live in California, California has a Prop 65 law that requires a cancer warning statement on just about everything. Our shipping company puts it in every box going to California to help us avoid lawsuits. If you don't live in California, it may have been put in your box by mistake. Our apologies for the mistake if that is what happened.
The warning sticker on our products are required by California law through Prop 65. The proposition states that any product that has the possibility of containing 0.5 micrograms (0.0000005 grams) of lead has to have that sticker on it. Now, the 0.5 micrograms are an extremely small amount and studies have shown that the lowest amount of lead that can cause problems is 1000 times that amount of 0.5 micrograms (0.5 milligrams, 0.0005) which is a very big difference. Our products have the possibility of being about 0.5 micrograms but not really any much higher than that. We do our best to keep those levels low, while also complying with the laws of California in our labeling.
Q: Is the cayenne fruit used in reNU the same that is in cayenne pepper?
A: Yes, the cayenne fruit is the same as cayenne pepper.
Q: Are there any citric or oxalates in the products?
A: Some of our products do have citric acid in them. The products with citric acid are H+H, Truvy Boost drinks, truSLUMBER and VitaFIX and Calm gummies.
Some of our products also have oxalates in them. Some of the ingredients we use can have very small amounts, such as cocoa powder, cocoa butter, beet juice powder, and black walnut. The products that contain one or multiple of these are Vy Boost, Vy, Vy Boost drinks, and reNU.
Q: In reNU, it has cascara sagrada. Is this harmful for long term use?
A: The maximum recommended amount per day is 300 mg and is not recommended to take longer than 1-2 weeks. Our reNU has about half of the recommended dose. This lower dose means you can take it longer for it benefits with a lower possibility of negative side effects. Currently we do not have any long-term studies for the use of cascara sagrada at the dose that we use. We do have customers that take it every day, while others take it for shorter periods, take a break, then take it again. It depends on how your body will react to it. We recommend you do what is best for you to get the results you are hoping for.
Q: Where do you get your essential oils from?
A: We have chosen only the highest quality essential oils. Our oils come from various countries where the plants are grown. They are usually distilled or cold pressed near where they are grown, then the oil is transported to our contract partners who fill our bottles for you.
Q: What is the difference between Vy Boost™ and Vy™?
A: The main difference between the two is that the Octodrine HCl in truCONTROL has been replaced in Vy with theobromine and Rauwolscine.
- Theobromine is similar to caffeine in structure and function. Theobromine supports the nervous system, specifically the brain, which helps to maintain a healthy metabolism and provides energy.
- Rauwolscine is one the key ingredients in Vy. It is a great stimulant that helps to increase thermogenesis and helps the body to maintain a healthy weight by supporting metabolism and energy production.
Q: Are the weight loss combos considered thermogenic?
A: Yes, some of the main ingredients help to boost metabolism and breakdown fats which is the criteria for a thermogenic agent. This makes those products thermogenic.
Q: Which products are most similar to the Gen 1 and Gen 2 products?
A: We have two products that are similar to the gen 1 line. The first is one called Vy Boost (formerly known as truCONTROL). It is an orange and white capsule and works best when taken with Tru which is a blue/purple and white. You can buy them as a combo pack.
We have another combo which is similar as well. The product is Vy, which is red and white, and works best when taken with Tru.
Q: Is there a special diet that I need to follow when using the weight loss combos?
A: We have a few different products that can help with weight loss. That combos help to reduce appetite, increase fat burning, and increase energy. We encourage you to participate in our 10k Pledge, our TruTransformation challenges and use our Truvy Fit app to track your eating and use workouts to help you increase your activity. We also encourage to you to join our fitness and diet Facebook groups for motivation and tips.
Q: I am interested in the ingredient bitter orange, what is it and what does it do?
A: Bitter orange is the source of a compound called p-synephrine. We use it mainly as an ingredient to help kickstart lipolysis in the body to aid in weight loss. It works in conjunction with some of the other ingredients that aid in the breakdown of fats and aid in weight loss.
Q: Can I put your drink mixes into hot water?
A: Yes, that should be just fine! Some people like different temperatures, and it won’t have any negative effects on the benefits of our products. We don’t recommend boiling or baking our products however, as those high temperature can break down active ingredients.
Q: What is the point of titanium dioxide in some of your products?
A: We use titanium dioxide in our capsules as a color additive. It is used in very trace amounts. When used as a colorant, it produces a white color. It is also known as Pigment White 6 (PW6) and CI 77891.
Q: Why did the coloring in Tru change from brilliant blue to FD&C Blue #1?
A: On some of our older boxes we put the label as brilliant blue but that is also known as FD&C Blue #1. The old label has the name brilliant blue on it while we have switched to the blue #1 name going forward, which is the name the FDA prefers for product labels.
Q: What sort of adhesive do you use on your patches?
A: The adhesive used on our patches is an acrylic adhesive. It is considered safe and non-irritating for skin patch use.
Q: Are your products nut free and/or made in a nut free facility?
A: The majority of our products are nut free, but some of our food type products are manufactured in a facility that also produces other products that may contain nuts or nut ingredients. They comply with all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) to make sure there is no cross contamination and do allergy testing after cleaning equipment between each batch, but there is still a small chance of cross contamination. The one product that we have that does contain nuts is our reNU. It has black walnuts in it and so those that are allergic to tree nuts should avoid reNU.
Q: What is the difference between truIGNITE, Gen 1, Gen 2 Weight and Energy, Vy Boost, and Vy?
A: All of those products are similar. They represent a progression of products over time. Gen 1 and Gen 2 are precursors to Vy Boost (truCONTROL) and are meant to be taken the same, with Tru. They are all weight loss products, and the efficacy improves with the newer products. For example, Vy is more efficient than Vy Boost, which is more efficient than Gen 2, which is more efficient than Gen 1. truIGNITE, also known as truCONTROL with Dynamine, is the same as truCONTROL but instead of Octodrine HCl (DMHA) it has Dynamine (Methylliberine) instead.
We recommend taking the currently available product for the best result.
Q: Would taking your weight loss combo out of their package and putting them in a weekly vitamin case reduce its potency?
A: If the container you transfer them to can be sealed, then it will be okay. It is not recommended that they are left in an open container for longer than a few days, as any excess moisture in the air could start to break down the capsules or affect the ingredients.
Q: How are the Harmony patches supposed to be used?
A: The best way to use the Harmony patches would be apply one patch each day after bathing or showering. Rotate the placement of the patch between the inside of the right bicep, the inside of the left bicep, the inner right thigh and then the inner left thigh. Leave on for 24 hours and then remove it before bathing or showering. Adhesive residue, if any, can be rubbed or washed off, or removed using a small amount of our By Nature essential oil, orange, on a cloth or tissue if needed.
Q: Where can I find ingredient information for the products?
A: We are currently updating our website to provide more information for our customers about our products and their ingredients. In the meantime, you can find information in your back office, or feel free to send in questions to our product questions email, productquestions@truvy.com.
Q: Is it okay for my kids to take your products?
A: We recommend that anybody taking our products be 18 years or older. The H&H drinks, Truvy Shake and VitaFIX gummies are okay for kids, but the rest of our products were not designed for children.
Q: Does Truvy do studies on the products before releasing them out to market?
A: Yes, our products undergo an in-house product trial with volunteer participants. We use that to determine the efficacy, possible side effects, and customer response so that we can adjust the product if needed before launching it for sale. We also complete a review of research studies on the ingredients to evaluate safety and efficacy. We do not currently conduct peer-reviewed studies or publish our product trials in scientific journals but may do so in the future.
Q: Does the H&H Grapefruit have actual grapefruit in it?
A: H&H grapefruit contains natural grapefruit flavor, and this flavor comes from grapefruit. The amount is small, and it only contains grapefruit smell, and does not contain other active ingredients from grapefruit except in trace amounts.
Q: What side effects are possible when taking your products?
A: We do our best to keep our doses low enough to not produce any negative side effects. Some people do experience and report negative side effects, but it is rare. If you are experiencing any negative side effects, stop use of the product and send an email into productquestions@truvy.com or contact customer support to report your experience.
Q: Can I have the amount or how much of X ingredient is in your product?
A: We have a number of ingredients that are included in our proprietary blends and we do not give the amounts of those out to protect our intellectual property. If you need to know that amount of an ingredient in our proprietary blends, due to medical reasons or a request from your physician, send an email into productquestions@truvy.com.
Q: What is the difference between Tru and truFIX?
A: Both Tru and truFIX are the same in all aspects except for one. Tru has 100% more (double) the amount of Chlorogenic Acids extracted from green coffee beans. This helps Tru to work more effectively with Vy or Vy Boost in supporting the body’s ability to manage blood sugar and other aspects of healthy blood chemistry.
Q: What is blood chemistry?
A: Blood is a complex mixture of red blood cells, white blood cells and plasma. Red blood cells carry oxygen from the lungs to your cells. White blood cells are part of your immune system. Plasma contains and delivers all of the other chemistry that your body’s cells need to grow and thrive. Having the right balance in your blood plasma means healthy blood sugar, healthy blood antioxidants, and a healthy cardiovascular system, which carries your blood throughout your body. So, when we say blood chemistry, we are really talking about helping your blood plasma do its job while protecting your cardiovascular system from damage during the process.
Q: What is the recommended use of the drink packets? How many should I take a day?
A: Our drink packets are a great way to benefit from Truvy ingredients while also having a delicious drink to sip on throughout the day! The best way to take Vy Boost drink is one sachet in the morning, and one in the early afternoon. Heart and Hydration drinks can be enjoyed anytime throughout the day. Heart & Hydration plus with caffeine should not be taken with Vy Boost, but at a different time during the day, if desired.
Q: I am confused on how to take reNU? Could you give me any advice on that?
A: We recommend that you take two capsules at night before you go to bed. Take the supplement for two weeks then take a two-week break. This is to help stimulate the body’s elimination ability, followed by a break. Many people also like to take one capsule of ReNU daily for maintenance. Either usage is fine.
Level 1:
Q: Why doesn’t all of the powder dissolve in Truvy Boost Drink?
A: Truvy Boost drink contains many active ingredients, and some of them may not dissolve completely. Shaking on occasion while enjoying the drink will help, but even if a small amount of the powder doesn’t dissolve completely, you are still getting all of the benefits of the product. We also plan to improve dissolution with future improvements to the product.
Level 2:
Q: What is the powder at the bottom of my Truvy Boost Drink and how can I help it dissolve better?
A: Our Truvy Boost drink mix is a great mix for those wanting to use our products as well as a good source for hydration! Some have noticed that when they mix their drink mix into water, a small amount of the powder settles at the bottom. There are many factors that can contribute to the powder at the bottom of the bottle, including the type of ingredients in the product, the temperature of the water, and how much of the drink mix is present, and others. This powder is nothing harmful and can be reduced or removed in a few different ways. We also plan to improve dissolution with future improvements to the product.
(1) Shake it up each time before you take a sip. This helps to move the water around and can actually help that extra powder to dissolve into the water or disperse in the water.
(2) Another way is to try using room temperature water to first mix it with before cooling, as the warmer the water, the easier it is for the ingredients to dissolve.
(3) Even if a small amount doesn’t dissolve, you are still getting all of the benefits of the product and you can discard the extra.
